PODCAST 1: Introduction

...

...
THE SCRIPT:
Hi there, my name is Evie Gibbons and I will be introducing my A2 Media Studies blog, Lilac City Records. This year we have to make a music video, website and digipak for a music artist. I am still unsure of who I am going to pick, I am stuck between three, a male artist called Sakima, a male DJ called Jakwob and a female electropop singer called Astrid S. I have decided the song I would pick for each of these artists however, for Sakima it would be 'What I Know Now', for Jakwob it would be 'Somebody New' and for Astrid S it would be 'Bloodstream'. I have also already set up a twitter and instagram social media account for the artist; at the moment the social media account name is sakima_music, until I finally decide the artist that I am definitely picking. In this blog you will see my journey of how I got to the final products of a music video, digipak and website, you will see things like music video analyses, website analyses, pre-production and post-production lists, podcasts, vodcasts, research of all kinds, audience feedback, audience analyses etc. I am really looking forward to getting started with the A2 Coursework properly and getting inspired by other media products which will influence my work. I hope you enjoy looking through my blog and seeing all my work for A2 Media Coursework. I also hope that this blog inspires you and provides you with a lot of useful information. Also, I will be posting many podcasts throughout the production process which will be updating where I am, what I plan to do and what I have done so far. So, until the next podcast, thanks, bye!

INTRO: The Group

I have decided to work alone for the project this year for A2 because I would like to create something unique and special exactly how I imagine it, not with someone else's ideas mixed in. Also, I find it easier and faster working alone. My classmate Richard would like to choose a completely different musical artist aswell anyway and has his own ideas he would like to use.

I really like the fast pace editing in this video. I like how the editing reflects the beats or instrumentals in the song. I also think the syncing of the musical instruments with the actual song is very good especially with the drum kit. I like the use of the colourful powder on the drumkit and the throwing of it onto the lead singer.
I think the narrative is quite stereotypical and very commonly used. I also think some of the acting isn't convincing for example when colourful clouds flood around the lead singer the actor looks bored out of his brain. I think more filters could have been used on the footage of the band playing the instruments to make it more convincing and to anchor the musical genre better.

I like how the editing reflects the beats or instrumentals in the song. I like the use of the GoPro reflecting someone's eyes. I also like the narrative of this video because it is not the stereotypical narrative you would expect to see in a music video. I think the acting achieves verisimilitude which is good. The syncing of the lips with the actual song is also very good. I think the lead actor (singer) reflects the real singer (Halsey) very much in terms of the fashion, hair and make up. The mise-en-scene works really well (with the masks, dark lighting, forest location, pink powder, firelighter etc...)
I don't like the use of the greenscreen in this video because it is very clear that a greenscreen is being used. Also, some of the footage is shaky for example on the singer lip syncing infront of a greenscreen and when the man steps out of the black car and puts in a password for a gate. I also don't like the footage in the bathroom near the end because it looks very amateur and bad quality.

INTRO: Welcome To My Blog

Hi there!! My name is Evie Gibbons, welcome to my A2 media studies blog! This blog will show my journey to making a music video, website and digipack for a musical artist. I hope this blog inspires you. I want to study film/TV production or design at university. I am very creative and imaginative and I aspire to become a film and music video producer/director, a music artist, an actor and an artist of all kinds of art. I am really excited to start making a music video, website and digipack for an existing music artist!

Last year for AS media studies I made a 3 minute film opening in the genre of slasher horror called 'Slaughter Revenge'. It is up on YouTube so you can watch it:
